About Meribel

Nestled in the Les Allues Valley, at the heart of the World’s largest ski area, les Trois Vallées, giving access to over 600km of piste and almost unlimited off-piste terrain. The resort has been popular with British skiers since it was founded by Colonel Peter Lindsay, with the first lift opening above Les Allues in 1938. The attractive traditional chalet architecture Meribel boasts makes it a stunning location ski in, with a varied selection of accommodation to suit most budgets and tastes. There is an active and vibrant apres-ski scene, for those wishing to unwind after a day on the slopes, along with a plethora of other activities to keep you (and the family) entertained during your stay.

Here is a collection of my favourite restaurants in the area, from casual chillout to gastronomic indulgence!

• Les Cretes - 04 79 08 56 50
Run by an adorable family, with lovely local rustic dishes.

• Le Plan des Mains - 04 79 07 31 06
We love the cheese here! A great place to relax after tackling the longest piste in Meribel.

• La Taverne - 04 79 00 32 45
A wonderful Savoie/modern fusion, the tuna sashimi and duck are incredible!

• Le Panoramic - 04 79 08 00 88
Perched on top of the Saulire, as the name suggest spectacular views, food's not bad.

• La Fruitier/La Folie Douce - 04 79 00 58 31
A little slow service due to its' popularity, worth the wait if you like cabaret and live music though.

• Le Coeur de Cristal - 04 79 22 46 09
Very French and very modern cuisine, spectacular deserts to be found here.

• Le Rond Point - 04 79 00 37 51
The après bar of choice, perfect for live music and toffee vodka!

• L’Adray Telebar - 04 79 08 60 26
We just love it! A hidden gem, their speciality veal is to die for...

• Le Zinc - 04 79 00 52 32
Ideal for beginner families, overlooking the Altiport and some of the best salads around.

• Le Blanchot - 04 79 00 55 78
Just below the beginner runs, perfect for a bad weather day and a delicious steak Tartare.

• Le Plantin - 04 79 04 12 11
Possibly our favourite restaurant ever, certainly not the cheapest but the food is exquisite!

• Aux Petits Oignions - 04 79 08 64 62
An adorable spot, with homely, simple yet delicious food!

• Evolutions - 04 79 00 44 26
Probably the best burgers around, and at the heart of the apres-ski scene.

Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, if you need a break from the slopes, there is plenty to keep you busy in Meribel. There are a number of great Spas if you need to unwind and be pampered, a cinema, ice rink and more live music than you can shake a stick at...

The Olympic Centre, right in the heart of the two and at the foot of the slopes, has an ice rink and swimming pool that are both open to the public.

The centre also hosts numerous activities and events throughout the season, so well worth checking out what's on.

For the kids, and the big kids in all of us, the bowling in Meribel is a great night out. They also have pool tables and Arcade games to keep you entertained.

The sports bar at the bowling regularly shows sporting events and can be a little haven away from the packed bars of town.
